graduates, the UWI is making foreign language certification mandatory.<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>Academic Year 2022-2023<\/strong>, new entrants are REQUIRED to do the Foreign Language option instead of FOUN1101 Caribbean Civilisation or FOUN1201 Science, Medicine and Technology, unless they have foreign language certification (see below).<\/p>\n<p>If students have previously completed a course which qualifies them for EXEMPTION from FOUN1101 Caribbean Civilisation or FOUN1201 Science, Medicine and Technology, but have no prior foreign language certification, they will STILL BE REQUIRED to take id=\"FAQ986\" style=\"display:none\">\n                        <p>Students are allowed to do a maximum of <strong><u>three<\/u><\/strong> 3-credit courses during the summer.&nbsp; Ideally, you should aim to take no more than <u><strong>two<\/strong><\/u>&nbsp;courses during any given summer, given the short length and compact nature of the summer semester.&nbsp;<\/p>\n                    <\/div> <p><strong>FULL-TIME students<\/strong>&nbsp;register for ten (10) courses per academic year (Aug-May) i.e. 5 courses in semester I and 5 courses in semester II.&nbsp;&nbsp;To enter the full-time Programme, your letter of offer to UWI should indicate acceptance into the 3-year programme (full matriculation).&nbsp;Please note that students who are in full-time employment are NOT permitted to register full-time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PART-TIME students<\/strong>&nbsp;register for five (5) courses per academic year (Aug-May) i.e. 3 courses in semester I and 2 courses in semester II OR vice versa<em>.&nbsp;<\/em>To enter the part-time Programme, your letter of offer should indicate acceptance into the 4-year programme (lower level matriculation). Students with lower level matriculation are not permitted to register full time until they have successfully completed <strong>24 credits<\/strong>.<em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Please note that registration is done on a semester by semester basis. These are <strong>compulsory <\/strong>for all undergraduate students in the Cave Hill School of Business and Management unless an exemption is granted by the UWI due to previous certification in an equivalent course.&nbsp; <em><strong>Please go to the FAQ entitled &#039;Foundation Courses and the New Language Policy&#039; for further information<\/strong><\/em>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Core Courses <\/strong>&#8211; these are fundamental to your area of study and must be completed. No other courses can be substituted. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Options <\/strong>&ndash; selections from lists of required courses. For example, you may be given a list of four (4) options from which you are required to choose two (2).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Electives <\/strong>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp; these are approved courses that can be selected from within the Cave Hill School of Business and Management or from any other department\/school at the Cave Hill Campus. Typically you will be approved to take a course as an elective if the number in the course code begins with 2 or 3.&nbsp; For example MKTG <strong>2<\/strong>001 or MKTG <strong>3<\/strong>002.&nbsp; <strong>Students are encouraged to take courses in other departments and faculties to broaden their educational experience and knowledge base as long as they have the prerequisites.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n                    <\/div>                 \n                                        \n                        \n                    <li>\n                        <strong><a href=\"#FAQLink993\" id=\"FAQLink993\" onclick=\"javascript: if (document.getElementById('FAQ993').style.display == 'none') {document.getElementById('FAQ993').style.display = 'block'} else {document.getElementById('FAQ993').style.display = 'none'};\">What is an override and how do I apply for it?<\/a><\/strong>\n                    <\/li>\n                    <div id=\"FAQ993\" style=\"display:none\">\n                        <p>An override is the term used to describe the granting of permission by&nbsp; the university administration to take a course which the online registration system did not allow the student to register for.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The online system will prevent students from registering for courses for several reasons:&nbsp; These include:&nbsp;<br \/>\n(a) the student has not passed the course prerequisite(s)<br \/>\n(b) the time slot for the course is clashing with that of another course which the student has already registered for<br \/>\n(c) there is a Level Restriction. This means that the student has to&nbsp; either reach a certain level in their degree programme; pass a certain number of courses or pass courses of a certain type before they qualify to register for the course in question.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When a Faculty member or a member of the Administrative Staff has advised that you apply for an override, the online application can be made at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.cavehill.uwi.edu\/schsbm\/programmes\/postgraduate\/\">https:\/\/overrides.cavehill.uwi.edu\/login\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is advised that time be taken to detail the reason why the override is being sought on the online application to enhance the possibility of permission being granted.<\/p>\n<p>If the override is approved, then the student is permitted to self-register for the course.<\/p>\n                    <\/div>                 \n                                        \n                        \n                    <li>\n                        <strong><a href=\"#FAQLink988\" id=\"FAQLink988\" onclick=\"javascript: if (document.getElementById('FAQ988').style.display == 'none') {document.getElementById('FAQ988').style.display = 'block'} else {document.getElementById('FAQ988').style.display = 'none'};\">What is meant by Advanced Standing and Course Exemption?<\/a><\/strong>\n                    <\/li>\n                    <div id=\"FAQ988\" style=\"display:none\">\n                        <p>You may be eligible for&nbsp;<strong>Advanced Standing<\/strong> and\/or <strong>Course Exemptions,<\/strong> depending on past educational achievements.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that&nbsp;Exemptions\/Advanced Standing for which you are eligible may already be entered on your student academic record\/transcript on CHOL.&nbsp; However it is your responsibility to check to ensure that your academic record is complete.
