The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce the conferral of the title of ‘Emeritus’ on seven retired Professors. The decision on the conferrals was made during a virtual University Finance and General Purposes Committee meeting held in late October.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce the conferral of the title of ‘Honorary Professor’ on Professor Hamid Ghany for his significant contributions to Constitutional and Parliamentary Affairs at The UWI and across the region. Professor Ghany is currently serving at the University on attachment to the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES), St. Augustine Campus. His appointment Honorary Professor is for the period October 1, 2021 to July 31, 2023.
 

At an investiture ceremony held on December 4, 2021, Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, conferred the Governor General's Faithful and Meritorious Award's highest honour, the Cross and Plaque, upon Vice-Chancellor of The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Professor Sir Hilary Beckles. The Award recognises Vice-Chancellor Beckles’ 40 years of distinguished service to The UWI and the Caribbean. 

The UWI congratulates Barbados on this remarkable milestone: the island’s achievement of Republic status and the appointment of its first President.
