The UWI Cave Hill Campus is now home to a Peace Pole, an internationally recognised symbol of the hopes and dreams of humankind, the first to be planted in Barbados.

The University of the West Indies’ (UWI) Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC) has received special recognition as the World’s Leading Tourism Initiative at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2021. Held on December 16, in Dubai, the award scheme, which celebrated its 28^th edition this year, acknowledges, rewards and celebrates excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. It is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality.  

The George Alleyne Chronic Disease Research Centre (GA-CDRC) a unit of the Caribbean Institute of Health Research (CAIHR), has welcomed a donation of 12,000 Pound Sterling from the Peter Cohen Charitable Trust.
Benefactor Peter Cohen presented the cheque to the Director of the GA-CDRC, Professor Simon Anderson last month. The donor was in Barbados at the time to attend the induction of Principal of Cave Hill Campus and former Director of the GA-CDRC, Professor Clive Landis.

Professor Michael Taylor, The University of the West Indies, (The UWI) Mona Campus’ Professor of Climate Science, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology and a world renowned expert in climate science has been named among Apolitical’s 100 Most Influential Academics in Government.

Two University of the West Indies’ Senior Lecturers are among a global network of researchers who have coauthored and published a Global Stocktake of evidence on human adaptation to climate change.
