Annually, the business meeting of The University of the West Indies’ highest governing body, the University Council, provides an opportunity for reflection and planning forward. This opportunity was amplified at the meeting of the University Council on Wednesday April 26, as The UWI celebrates its 75^th Diamond jubilee anniversary (1948-2023).  

Prime Minister of Barbados, The Honourable Mia Amor Mottley will deliver the keynote address at a workshop entitled Trade and Climate Action: Shifting the Paradigm for a Just Transition and Sustainable Development on May 2-5, 2023, at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
 

To mark its 75^th anniversary (1948-2023), The University of the West Indies has made a call for indigenous entrepreneurs and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to partner with the University on a UWI 75^th Anniversary Signature Collection. 

It was with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Dr. The Honourable Harry Belafonte on April 25, 2023. We at The University of the West Indies (UWI) mourn with his widow, children and grandchildren, and extend to them and their immediate and wider circle our sincere condolences and hope that the tremendous global outpouring of affection will help to sustain them in their time of loss. 

A recent economic impact study is projecting that The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus will contribute an estimated BDS $325 million to the local economy during the current academic year.
