The University of the West Indies (The UWI) has promoted five of its finest academics to the rank of Professor. The new professors are experts in the fields of Special Education, Organic Chemistry, Spatial Information Science, International Law and Global Environment Governance, and Environmental Information Modelling and Management.  

The University of the West Indies (The UWI), one of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU’s) 14 global Academic Training Centres (ATCs), has opened registration for its first course offering under the ITU’s ATC programme. This course, Design and Development of Smart Cities, provides an overview of the essential aspects of smart city development.
 

Dedication, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to advancing the university’s mission were recognized once again as seven faculty and staff of The UWI Cave Hill Campus received the 2023 Principal’s Award for Excellence. This year’s recipients were selected for their outstanding service to the University or wider community during the Annual Retirees and Long Service Awards Ceremony held on November 18, 2023.

The University of the West Indies (UWI) proudly showcased "The One-UWI Postgraduate Student Conference," a transformative three-day online event hosted by the School for Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) from November 15-17, 2023. Celebrating The UWI's 75^th anniversary and esteemed global ranking, this conference spotlighted graduate students' significant contributions across diverse programmes on its five campuses.
 
Under the theme "Preparing for the New Global Era: Voices of Future Leaders," The One-UWI Postgraduate Student Conference explored ten pivotal focal areas, addressing climate resilience, food security, universal good health, nature-based solutions, and the implications of 21^st-century digital transformation. The conference delved into governance and labour market challenges in small states, social and cultural issues in Small Island Developing States (SIDS), legal frameworks in sustainable development, and diverse perspectives on contemporary educational issues. Additionally, it examined transformative elements of empowerment, activism, and representation in the context of identities.

This year’s International Men’s Day theme, “Zero Male Suicide” brings attention to the enormous stresses on men and their own health, such a fundamental ingredient in their capacity to care for their own children. This panel comes together to discuss “Masculinity, Fatherhood and Children’s Rights”.
