Four outstanding regional citizens will be honoured for their remarkable contributions to society when The University of the West Indies at Cave Hill stages its annual graduation ceremony next month. The four: a regional head of state, a hotel executive, a public health advocate and a cultural stalwart will be conferred honorary doctorates on October 19, 2024.        

“Sonny contributed much to the development of Caribbean civilization and institutions. I am sorry for his passing, but I am proud of his contributions. In every sense he was one of our greatest leaders and impactful citizens.”    

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) has introduced a new inter-campus initiative, a global online graduate business school, geared towards exporting Caribbean knowledge to the world.
 

After almost two years of finalising its operational procedures and negotiations, The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is set to launch its first-of-its-kind global online graduate business school focused on leadership within the context of supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Having recited the Hippocratic Oath, a time-honored tradition for medical graduates, over 40 newly minted physicians-in-waiting are poised to formally take up duties as doctors. The Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Class of 2024 of The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus participated in an Oath Taking Ceremony on July 30. The Oath, a rite of passage for medical professionals symbolizes their commitment to ethical medical practices and compassionate patient care, serving as a solemn promise to uphold the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism in the field of medicine.
